Hello,

I am debating between the 860 (211$) or 870 (244$)..

Any opinions..I cannot decide. Is it worth it the extra 30$..

Machine will be used mostly for gaming..

I will probably also going to get P7P55D-E LX.. Any objections..

Thanks in advanced..

Rob

there is no point in spending the 30 $ on a cpu when you can get one (860) for the same speed almost the 860 2.8 can reach the 870 speed easily save your money and get the 860 and the left of the money you can get a decent cpu cooler for it or do any upgrades
Good Luck.

Actually for gaming purposes, the i5 760 is the better buy.. Hyperthreading, which is the only significant difference between the i5 760 and the i7 860, plays no role when gaming is concerned.. The i5 760 is equally fast and equally overclockable with a lower price tag.. You can use the saved cash to invest in some better video card which any day is the more significant factor for pulling up frames..

he didnt mention anything about i5 he wants i7 wich its better because tommorow games will support hyper threaded cores so the i7 is the best option for today and for tommorow as well and while he mentioned that he is gonna buy i7 he will absolutley buy high end gpu to go along with it .

OP has mentioned gaming as his primary objective and thus the recommendation for the i5 followed.. If an i7 is necessary, then it should be coupled with the X58 platform.. As for the video card, its best for OP to mention it.. We are here to give suggestions, not impose our decisions (especially when they are based on pure assumptions)..
