5870 XXX acting very strange

My friend just got a 5870 XXX edition, and he popped it in his computer. I know that this card is supposed to be factory stable overclocked, so I was ready to be surprised. But whenever we play games like Crysis, TF2, or the Sims, artifacts and distortions are everywhere. I checked the overclock using Catalyst and it failed, so could the overclock be the problem?

It has happened that factory overclocks have failed. It is easy to check by lowering the overclock but otherwise time to RMA

Yes, the best thing is to RMA the card...
A crappy PSU could destroy the card, so don't buy a cheap PSU...
