Nvidia 9600 gt

Hello,I first congratulate everyone for sharing your expertise and ideas to us.
I just recently bought a xfx 9600gt 512mb graphics for playing games.
I shelled out Rs 4500 which is a big amount here.I just wanted to know whether it will give a decent performance in gaming at 1600*900 resolution@med or low settings or 1440*900. I plan to buy 1600*900 20" monitor .will this suffice or to keep playing with my CRT MONITOR @1024*768. Please reply fast.

More about nvidia 9600
  1. i have that same gpu and i love it. i can play crysis at high settings @ 1024x768 on my 17" crt. what directx and os do you use?
  2. windows 7 and direct x 10 . I Saw in the mass effect 2 configuration screen.
  3. Also friends, My model no is T96G-YNF3- a lower clocked one.

    Specs of my card
    shaders -48; memory - GDDR3;Gpu clock- 600;memory- 700; shader-1.5 ghz.

if overclocked will it reduce the life of my gpu
when playing mass effect 2 temps @60-65.
Please read and reply ,be frank and dont advise me to upgrade my gpu.
and also tell me whether i can play atleast 1.5 years for1600*900 @low or med.
  4. It will be ok for 16x9. Most newer games you'll probably have to turn things down. 1440x900 or 1024x768 it should be fine. Its probably the best performing card for your budget.
  5. Thanks,4745454b.If i change the resolution from 1600*900 to 1440*900 can i play the latest games with high quality?
also will going to a lower resolution give acceptable graphics as 1024*768 in my crt?
  6. Yes, but then your dealing with the lower resolution. What you want to do is buy a card good enough to handle the higher resolution so that it still looks good.

    48 shaders, is that a 9600GT or 9600GSO? I thought the 9600GT has 64 or 96 shaders.
  7. veteran, for me this will siffice.Regarding the cores,i saw it in gpu z [SHADERS - 48 UNIFIED]. can it be trusted or is there any other application that can tell it accurately. Also tell me any 20" inch monitor that will give me best 1600*900 resolution. how about lg w2043t any opinions.
  8. It should be trusted unless you have an older version of GPUz. I'd look it up for you, but I'm at work right now...
  9. Thank you. also please give me your suggestions for a monitor. i am in chennai. If you don't mind where are you from. you have been very helpful to me.
  10. Sorry, I have no idea whats available in Chennai.
  11. Sorry , I have selected two monitors. 1. LG W2043T 2. SAMSUNG 2030 among this which will be better. both are 20"inch monitors.

Friend, Thats a green power edition card you have purchased. I guess you may have purchased it for lammy,mumbai... The card you bought wont be having an external power connector if i am not wrong. If that is the case then 48 shaders is perfect. Normally 9600gt have 64 shaders. Green editions have 48. 9600GSO has 96 shaders. But memory interface of 9600gt is 256bit compared to 192bit of 9600gso. 9600gt rules the budget gaming market.
  13. well ,chiragsthakur Mine is a green power edition. can i play recent games at 1400*900 at high settings.

how about just cause 2 .
  14. absolutely fine friend. It wont make any big difference.. Actually a noraml human eye cant differentiate in such a small difference... Its really fine... 9600gt will run till mid 2011 or say 2012..coz its really a good budget graphics card.....
  15. And sorry coz i didnt answer your final query.... Just cause 2 might show some difference. I dont have any idea.. I used to run crysis on 1440*768 reso at max details but no AA.. I used to get 24 to 28 frames which i not bad... N talking about just cause 2 i think 9600gt will run it smoothly...I run just cause 2 on MSI hawk 5770. I m not a lord. But i sold my 9600gt at 4300/- and 8400gs at 1500/- and just put in another 3600/- to get 5770...
  16. SAMSUNG B2030 is niceee.... But get a BENQ if you are in gaming...
