So i have a current system with a Liquid Cooled phenom 9850x4 OC to 2.7 paired with 2 OC Liquid cooled 4850's. What i'm wondering is if its worth it to upgrade to 2 of the powercolor LC 5870 or would it be worth it more to go to a new processor and Motherboard.

I would say it's not worth it but it will be fun and will add spice in your life to tinker again with that PC...

My suggestion is to keep the two 4850's and spend your budget for the 2x5870 on a new motherboard+CPU+RAM instead.
The X6 1090T +890GX will just be about the cost on one 5870 and you will still have some $ left after buying 2x2GB DDR3 RAM. That you can spend on an SSD. ;)

+1 good things are happening not only the 6000 series, but prices are going to drop on the 5000 series and ssd's are slowly coming down in price, not to mention the fact that AMD is releasing new architecture next year.

Thats what i was looking at doing was upgrading a year from now into the 6k series but just wanted someones opinion on the subject. I enjoy doing the LC to it and yeah i'm frustrated in the original Phenom OC'ing ability. Seems to be very random if they are even OC able.

Would it be better to go with phenom II x6 or the 965 x4 if i did upgrade? i've thought about waiting 1 more series for both the processor and the video card.

for me anyway i see it like this, the longer i wait the happier i am with the system i get, i went from a T2600 2.1Ghz Dual core to the i5-750 @ 3.5Ghz, of course that is personal preference, and that is a bit of an extreme example.
