Cloning an external USB HD to another external USB HD

Hello,
Knowing that HDs will always fail, I backup all my photos to an external HD and DVDs. I wanted to know is there an easy way to simply clone the external USB drive to another? I could have bought one with RAID but decided to just get a single drive. Any other best practice ideas?
