Low Read Speed - Samsung 830

I recently bought a Samsung 830 128GB SSD (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...) and when I run benchmark tests it has very low read speeds (254MB/s compared to the advertised 520).

I know the speeds aren't supposed to be exactly what they are advertised, but mine are at about half what they should be. I am running in AHCI mode and I did a fresh install of windows when I got it. The drive is about half full.

SATA II Read & Write speeds: ~ 300MB/s
SATA III Read & Write speeds: ~ 600MB/s

You have most probably connected your SSD to a SATA II port. Which motherboard do you have?

For note: Sata 3gb/s means SATA II ports. Sata 6gb/s means SATA III ports.
Therefore, your motherboard only has SATA II ports.

However, don't let that disappoint you as the benchmark doesn't mean much, given that your actual real-life usage of the SSD will differ from what the benchmark tests.
Do a WEI test on your SSD and see the score for yourself; it should be above 7.0.

Thanks for your help, I am getting a new comp soon anyway and I just wanted to make sure it was my motherboard and not my SSD.
