Upgrading CPU

I'm a novice builder, looking for some info... My mobo states it is "AM3 Ready" however it is a AM2+ socket I believe... Would this allow me to use AM3 socket CPU on the motherboard..

Yes it will support the X4 635 with BIOS version P1.30.

I assume, download the new bios, then install it over the old 1.10 I have..

It will definately work as I have a AM2+ motherboard with a AM3 processor. However I would suggest getting a AMD Phenom II x2 555 over a quad core Athlon as they are a much newer design. They are also the same price. Speed isn't all about cores. Just a suggestion thats all.

I am thinking of Overclocking the Athlon, Of which would result in a higher speed..
