New to the build arena and have a question

I think its time to upgrade but am stuck on the processor

Currently my cpu is a Phenom x3 8750 Black Edition

My motherboard is a ASUS M4N82 Deluxe (6gig DDR2 @ 800)

Ive been looking at everything from the AMD Athlon II X4 640 Propus 3.0GHz to the AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Thuban 2.8GHz.

Im leaning towards the AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz or the AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz.

Most of my time is spent on video encoding or the latest FPS.

I have a Corsair H50 for a cooler.

Any help or advise would be HUGE

Which video card do you have?
In most cases that involve your uses, I would go with a 1055t, if time is critical enough in your encoding to be worth the additional money.

I disagree with the 965BE suggestion. For most cases, it is simply not worth the money over the 955BE

Thanks for the suggestions

My video set up is 2 9800 GTs 512mb in SLI with onboard running PHyixsS

Will the 1055t give a big push in the encoding??

Also on a scale of one to ten how is the install.

Thanks for all the advice so far

Install of the CPU? Well, pretty easy and less finicky with the AM3/AM2 sockets. 5 minutes for someone who has no clue what they are doing but is reasonably intelligent.

Big push? From your x3? yes. if the encoding can use all cores (which it likely can) than there will be more than a 100% improvement. Higher clockspeeds, twice the cores and each core more efficient and a slight amount better than the original phenom core.
