Hello, after reading a lot of threads here I am really confused. Can you give me a recommendation for memory for a new computer. I using a Asus M4A89GTD Pro motherboard and a AMD 1100T Black Edition CPU. I am not much of a gamer just the usual MS Office 2010, photoshop and the like, this is my first faster computer in a long time.
Do I need 4gb or would 8gb be better?
I like the Ripjaw memory but not dead set on it!
Also what watt power supply does this combo need?
Thanks

You could probably get by with 4GB, but I'd recommend going with 8GB because of the low prices nowadays. G.Skill Ripjaws or Ripjaws X is good, as is Corsair Vengeance.

Corsair is definitely a good power supply brand. 650-750W is a good place to start. Other brands to look for would be SeaSonic, XFX, PC Power & Cooling, and Antec.

Big IF you don't mind getting in to the BIOS to set the AI OC Tuner -> DOCP, DRAM OC Profile -> DDR3-1600, setting the CAS timings and DRAM Voltage THEN the 1600 MHz adds value.

I agree with 8GB, 2X4GB kits. The Corsair Dominator $130 CMP8GX3M2A1600C9 are proven good with the Phenom II; both the 'SPD' 1333 and Rated 1600 share the 9-9-9-24-2T timings so setting the DOCP is easier. Also, the G.SKILL $100 F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL Both sets are proven for your CPU & AMD Chipset.

G.SKILL Tested {fast} - http://gskill.com/configurator2.php?pid=2&model=1341

Next, Big question - why not build an Intel P67 or Z68 with Sandy Bridge? IMO the Sandy Bridge is the better option.
