hi i want to get another motherboard because my current one (msi ms 7380 v1.2) wont let me overclock due to the bios setting being locked and i want to overclock my cpu to get a little more performance and ive been looking at the Asus P5K-E/WiFi-AP would this be suitable my current setup is

8gb ddr2 667
intel quad core q8300
sapphire hd 6850

if i could get a quick reply that would be great guys because the auction for the Asus P5K-E/WiFi-AP ends in 3 hours thanks.

Yes, that would be fine as far as CPU and MB matching. The problem is the RAM, yours is 667 and the board specs 1066. But let's face it; if you were planning on OCing, you surely weren't going to hang on the the 667 long anyway.
Better look into some new RAM. Here is some at a good price:

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK
Unfortunately, DDR2 memory is still insanely expensive, but you could find some on the auction cheap.

800 is still no good. Prices are what they are for a lot of reasons - some of them not very nice, but that's the way it is.

You know, the price ratios of what you are planning appear to be within $100 of a new system after you sell what you have at auction and get

You should be future-proofed for at least 2 years as long as you're not an upgrade junkie like me [:mousemonkey:3]
Plus, the 2500k OCd to 4.4GHz (which is a piece of cake), would make the Q8300 look stupid no matter how you cranked it up.
