I don't need something fast just that old pentium 100mhz with the dead pixles you've got lying in your basement. I only need something that can handle windows 2000 and winamp so I can patch some music through the speakers of my car.

You're looking at a pentium 200MMX minimum. And nearly any board that can handle a 200MMX should take a K6-2...so if you find one you might as well upgrade it.

Fine idea you have there. Have you considered actually PURCHASING one?

Well PS, should you get desperate for one, I have one that I want to sell, but I have to get the ridiculous sum of $400-$500US out of it. I know... that's crazy.

Well, sign me: Waiting for Crazy Person.

p.s. If Crazy reads this, it's an IBM Thinkpad 760XL (P1-166, 64 megs RAM installed). It's quite capable of running Windows XP Pro, since I installed a copy as a trial. I'm not saying I'd want to LEAVE it installed. It's currently running Windows 98SE on it. It has no dead pixels, as far as I can see. Oh, yes, it has the original 2.1 gig HD in it and will come with 2 power supplies (external) and most accessories. I'll even throw in a 10 Mbps LAN card. It's in daily use, so I know it works fine. BIOS has been updated to the most recent release.

lol well I was trading six my compact flash card for a crummy old p100 thinkpad a few months ago but he decided to keep my card and not send me the notebook, and I have considered buying from real vendors but I thought I'd throw this post out here just incase somebody could offer me a better deal. I really don't need anything that's all nicely refurbished or anything, the plastic could be cracked and smashed and the batteries could be dead and I wouldn't care.

How much are you willing to spend? The closest thing I have to your specs is a Penium MMX 233Mhz w/Ati something or other 8mb graphics, Compaq, all black, ect.

 I run my AthlonXfx at 7.65 Exahertz

Well, didn't I say it was ridiculous? And you're also right: I want to buy a P3 or better and I've got to raise the money somehow. I just thought I'd toss in my reply for giggles, since you didn't get any offers at all at the time.

Hey Pap, that would be a nearly perfect system for your purposes! And if it has a standard socket, you could upgrade to a K6-2 500@400, undervolted to mobile MMX voltage for reduced heat!
