Hi everyone.
First off my specs:
Intel Core i7-860 Lynnfield 2.8GHz 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor BX80605I7860
GIGABYTE GA-P55-USB3 LGA 1156 Intel P55 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
COOLER MASTER HAF 932 Black RC-932-KWN3 Black Steel ATX
So here is the scoop. I built this pc myself a few weeks ago and everything went fine. It was quiet, fast and best of all, did not explode when i turned it on. Today I got home from class and turned it on, and everything was fine until about 3-4 seconds after logging into windows. That's when the cpu fan decided it wanted to turn into a 747 engine. I figured I'd reboot, but after several reboots with little or no change I came to these conclusions:
1. The cpu fan speed only increases after logging into windows, and about 4 seconds after that.
2. The fan speed does not slow down, even at 1% cpu usage, the fan is still trying to carry a 747.
3. With SpeedFan, i've detected the cpu fan to be anywhere from 1500-3000 rmp.
Please not, you could barely hear the cpu fan prior to this. I am planning on replacing the stock cpu fan, but I am a student with little to no money, and it will have to wait.
Any help would be appretiated,
thank you.
