ASUS DRW-24b1st can burn dvd video but can't create audio CD

Was it because this DVD burner is not meant for creating audio CD? I thought all DVD burner is backward compatible so it can read and write audio CD. However, I can't get any software in Windows 7 including the Media Player to create an audio CD using this drive. Can anyone confirm my experience?

  3. Thanks a great deal S-4. The media shouldn't be any problem. I used the same CD media in another LG drive it worked just fine.

My motherboard is Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3-E, I replaced this one with a Sony Optiarc CD/DVD burner AD7261S. It shows the same issue, drive is recognized as a DVD drive but not a CD writing device.

Just curious whether or not this is a BIOS setting issue. SATA could be configured as AHCI or IDE mode and mine is set as AHCI.

I'll experiment the IDE settings to see if this problem could be corrected.

Thanks a great deal S-4 for your confirmation.

    Cheers,
