Here's my attempt at a gaming build:

In-Win Griffin Mid Tower
Cooler Master 600W Extreme Power PSU
Asus M4A78Lt-MLE Mobo
AMD Athlon II X3 440
4GB (2x2GB) PQI DDR1333 RAM
Patriot 32GB SSD
WD 500GB 7200 RPM HDD
LG DVD-RW
Saphire ATI 5750 Vapor-X

748.79 after taxes and purchased from a local PC shop

It would be helpful to itemize the prices so we know what costs what

Honestly I don't know how that comes up to such a high number.

You should read the sticky and fill out the form from the link in the sticky. How to ask for new build advice.

Also for a $750 price point, the SSD isn't a good idea at all.

5750 and an SSD is lopsided.

Nothing amazing about it. Since its a gamer drop the ssd and go for more cpu/gpu.
