Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-US2H memory upgrade

I just got Win 7 64 bit and want to upgrade my memory I have revision 1 of this board wich my manual says supports ddr2 at 1200(oc) but their website says it will support ddr3 at 1800 and after searching their documentation I find no more info on wether I need to flash bios or anything, will i need to flash the bios to go to ddr3? I plan on a new mobo soon and want to get the fastest memory supported by this board or will i better off to just get a new board and memory?

  1. There's a GA-MA785GM-US2H with DDR2
    http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3447#sp
    and a GA-MA785GMT-US2H
    http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3474#ov
    with DDR3

What DDR it is written on the mobo next to the RAM slots.
  2. well im pretty sure it only supports DDR2 (if that is what your using right now) because it can only support DDR2 or DDR3 not both. if you get DDR2 memory im pretty sure right now its more expensive then DDR3 right now so i think u'll be better off getting DDR3 when u get a new mobo
