So I was wondering how much I could overclock my current Athlon II x2 245. My current speed is 3.6

Athlon II x2 245 @ 3.6
CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus
MSI 785gm-e65
4gb ddr3 1333
Radeon 5750

So with my first try at OCing, I was able to get to 3.6 just by changing the ram multiplier and then increasing the base speed to 250 (multiplier 14.5 locked, results in 3625mhz). I think I was able to get this high because the 785gm-e65 automaticall set the voltage to 1.4v and it's supposed to be 1.35 (I think). So, do you think I could get any higher? I know its a crappy CPU and I'm sure I'll upgrade within the year, but it does have a decent hsf and it's only a 65w processor...

245 spec voltage: 0.85-1.40V with max temps 74c

Loosen the timings on your RAMs and see if you can do 265MHz or so -- hopefully the RAMs will take the OC.

Other than that you need to isolate each component to determine its functional limits. I haven't had the pleasure of getting to know that motherboard but what are the limits? Can you go 13x290MHz?

That way you could drop the RAMs another notch (probably need to drop back the NB multi a notch, too, though 2900MHz has been done on the AthonII NB/IMC).
