Precision 390 I upgraded to CPU to E6700 received 1-3-4

Hi,

I tried upgrading my E6300 CPU to a E6700 CPU on my Precision 390. All I got were the diagnostic lights firing up at 1-3-4 with no signal on the screen.
The bios is up to date at 2.6.

It is a 975x Mobo so I assumed that the upgrade would work. Also the E6700 in question is a different spec.

The one I got is the 3.2 Ghz with 2 MB cache and 1066 Mhz FSB.

When I swap it back to the E6300 CPU, everything works fine.

Is there any way i Can get this to work or should I just return the CPU?

I would return the cpu. Your board is too old for a proper upgrade.
