SSD RAID 0 Question

Hi, I have two questions really. First is: if I RAID 0 two 256GB SSD's together will the result be 500GB?

Second is: can I add the 256GB SSD to the one I currently have in my system (in RAID 0) and leave my data on the drive unharmed? In other words, the drive currently has my operating system and some files on it. Will adding the second drive erase these?

Thanks! This means I can effectively make my C: drive larger AND I don't have to re-install my OS correct? Sorry, I don't want to be redundant, just careful!
