So I think i'm actually ready to start buying. This will be my first build. I've picked these parts based on suggestions. I would like some help to make sure everything is compatible.

I'd also like to know if I need thermal compound for the CPU? Some people said no, some people said yes.

Solution
You have an OS, Monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers? if so, everything looks good, I say pull the trigger.

Those who say no are right, and those who say yes are right. It's preference. Some people don't like the stock compound that comes with it because custom compound can perform better, I would recommend getting the extra compound because the what comes with the CPU isn't much, and if you are troubleshooting and taking it off/on it's nice to have it.

^ this does look like a better deal, one question I have is the ram you listed says 2000, and the motherboard I have says 2000 O.C. What does that 2000 O.C. mean compared to the 1600 standard?

the (O.C) stated on the mobo means that it would support these speeds in overclock. You would have to go into the bios and manually change it to 2000. You could always just set it to 1600 and it would run fine, and you have the ability to raise the speed of your ram if you want.
I just chose that because it saves money.

Ok, that makes sense. Yeah I think I might go with that combo. Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.

than either of those motherboards should work. I just chose that one because of reasons previously stated. You could look around for more deals if you want, if you're happy with everything, you could pull the trigger.
