Flash with olympus 4040z

Hi all, was wondering if anyone could help. Last month I had my studio
lights (WL 1000) hooked up to my Olympus 4040z through a sync cord from
Olympus. And the camera was firing the flash fine but my shutter sync was
off so they did not come out (besides not knowing the proper settings).
This week however, I hooked everything up and now I can not get the flash to
fire through the cam. 2 questions for you.

1. Can anybody tell me the proper settings on the cam for this to work?

2. What did I do wrong this time for not even getting the flash to fire
through the cam and sync cord
