If money isn't an issue, than I'd go with the ASUS UG board. IT has a built in water housing for the chipset, so if ya doin water cooling ya can pump thru there and has 7x PCIe 2.0 16x slots.
It' is insanely expensive for a non-server mobo though.

For that's easily one of the two below...

of course, it depends on what your doing with the system in general...but, these two boards are easily great partners for the lonely 990x...doesnt matter which of the two you choose..they'll make wonderful music together

Wow never seen those boards. Seriously if you're spending that much money, might as well get a good computer - just get the SR-2 and 2x Xeon 6cores haha.

I've built SR-2 the minimum difference is $2,000+, it's great for a rendering PC but it's lack luster for Gaming and on par with 990X. My last SR-2 build was $12,000+.

I too run an X58 gaming rig with 980X and Koolance, unless the OP is running 5900+ x 1080 then the LGA 1366 is pointless. A full water rig is going to run $4,500+.

Problem, the above X58 MOBOs are limited to 3-WAY SLI therefore your only quad option is the GTX 590 SLI.

Q - What's the reasoning with the 990X?
Q - What's the purpose of this build?
