RAM placement on a ASrock P67 extreme4

I know that there is supposed to be certain RAM placement and it is different on every board. I, however can not find it in the manual anywhere. All I know is that it has to be in slots 1 and 3 or 2 and 4 to take advantage of the dual channel memory. If It doesn't say anywhere in the manual, can it go in either of those combinations without sacrificing performance?

For two sticks in dual-channel on Sandy Bridge systems:
Slot 1 (closest to CPU): Empty
Slot 2: RAM
Slot 3: Empty
Slot 4: RAM

^+1. Going by an Asus P67 Sabertooth manual, this is the way to go with two sticks (2 and 4).

Haha ok the two different answers confused me. I was hoping that would go in 2 and 4 because of the size of my CPU cooler (Cooler Master Hyper 212+ with 2 fans)
