How to uninstall hardware in xp that will not uninstall

Hello,
i installed drivers that will not work properly, and when i tried to uninstall them using device mgr, restart computer, it still prompts me that new hardware found. then it requests a cd rom during install wizard process (which i dont have) what can i do???? to resolve this issue... all help is greatly appreciated!!!
