I would like to build a computer from scratch but i want to make sure i get the right parts/good perts i am open to ideas and have a budgit of £1.5k .

Case: Antec 902

CPU: Intel core i7 930

Motherboard: ASUS p6t deluxe

HDD: WD Velociraptor/ Caviar black

PSU: 1000W

Graphics card: ATI 5770/5870

im open for opinions, thats approc 3k dollars for american folk :D

You're not getting the best parts.

First, the board is overly expensive. I'd get the Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R.

Second, VelociRaptors aren't that fast. There are drives that are a third of the cost (and twice as big) that are just as fast. Also, WD is getting kicked around pretty good right now. Grab a Spinpoint F3 500 GB or 1 TB and save a lot of money.

Third, 1000W is massive overkill. You can Crossfire three HD 5970s, six 5870s or 5850s and seven 5770s on that. The maximum size you'd need with ATI cards is 850W and that'd be for a single 5970 with the option to add a second later.

Here's a full build of what you should be looking at. I can't say for certain that it would be under budget over there, so if it's not, switch the SSDs for a single OCZ Agility 2 120 GB or a single Intel 80 GB. If you're still over budget, ditch the SSDs entirely.

CPU: i7-930 $290
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R $200
RAM: G.Skill Trident 3x2 GB 2000 mhz CAS Latency 9 $185
GPU: HD 5970 $700
SSD: 2x Intel X25-M 80 GB $430
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1 TB $75
PSU: Cosair 850W Modular 80+ Silver $150 after rebate
Case: HAF 922 $90
Optical: Cheap SATA DVD burner $20
HSF: Noctua NH-D14 $90

Total: $2,230

sound good except i dont wanna spend that much on a graphics card just yet, which is why i went for 5870 but i checked it out and i can say wow lol

also case is ugly no offence, gna stick with my antec.

but all the rest of the stuff im defo gunna look into more detail the SSD is a defo for me, thanks buddy.

and ive had alot of people suggest the spinpoint so ima look into it definately.

Gotta find the stuff on a english website lol shipping is expensive :p

The 5970 is definitely expensive, but it's two 5870 GPUs on one card, though they're downclocked to the levels of 5850s. So once you undo that downclocking, you've essentially got $800 of graphics power for $700, and still have an upgrade path.

The case is pretty ugly, but it's easily the best one on the market. Another one to look at (though they're a bit more expensive ) is the Coolermaster Cosmos. It's a great case and is big enough to fit whatever you need to put it it.

ok i looked into it and i agree its pretty good and could save in the future but this is just a start of a wicked computer. just getting the simple things first and in the future i'll be ugrading month by month after buying my girlfriend stuff for putting up with this lol.

the samsung HDD sounds good but ive read a few reviews and some are faulty. not as much as the F1 but if im gna spend this much i want it to last.
