Will ssd controller bypass laptop hdd controller?

so I have a laptop with damaged hdd controllers (apparently) and I was hoping, since I don't want to buy a new motherboard for my laptop, that if I put in an ssd, that the controller on the ssd will bypass the need for the hdd controller on the motherboard, since those are damaged. if I put in a regular hdd, the computer keeps giving BSODS.

Short answer: no.

The controller on the SSD controls access to the memory chips inside the drive. It still needs a hard drive controller to communicate between the drive and the computer.
