hi guys first i wanted to go for Q9400 but i saw ..its outdated just like 4890 VGA card & it was risky to buy that ...so now i wanna buy CORE i series ..but stuck on choosing ...i want something better than Q9400 so i found these.. which one is better than Q9400 & best choose

Core i5-750 Quad 2.66GHz
Core i5-760 Quad 2.8GHz

Well, to keep your current setup the Q9550 is the better option bit will have limited improvement... http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/76?vs=50

You will see a bigger impact by going with the i5 750/760 (pretty much the same) but will require a new motherboard and RAM. (higher cost)... http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/76?vs=109

In the end, my recommendation would be to hold off till later this year and pickup the new Intel 1155 chipsets, with a new MOBO & RAM. These will be better than the three listed above for similar price.

Don't know what your current rig is doing, but a q9400 at 3.2GHz or so should give you enough jam to run the video of your choosing ...

( if you have an existing s775 mobo)

As tecmo suggested, wait for Intel's sandybridge, the initial reviews are encouraging!

Hi! Maybe you can go for DDR3-1333. With $50-60 price difference between 45nm penryns and 1156, it's worth it to migrate to the new socket and get DDR3 ram.

you know i currently have GA P31 DS3L ...& wanted to go for Q9400 ..but shopkeeper told me its great but its OUTDATED { they dont produce it anymore } so if your mobo breaks in future you should recycle your CPU for nothing .... so why dont you get Core i 5 ...its cheapr than Q9400 & better & you can have new mobo with great RAM & psu ....

I wanna know which way is right ... i would wait for a year i know that the new MOBO & ddr3 rams & i5 cpu that i wanna buy not gonna be OUTDATE like Q9400 ...i wanna something to use for LONG time ....i dont wanna challange ...so i think a system that can hadnle games maxedout at 1440 REZ would be fine ... so first i wanna wait a little bit ... & after that get new CPU , RAM , PSU & Mobo ...& after that i gonna GET 5850

IS this right ? i mean did i choose the correct way ?

1) The Core i5 you are looking at will be obsolete by the Q1 of 2011 with the release of the Sandy Bridge chips. A reason to wait for the new chip or go the AM3. AM3 sockets allow for backward capability, so their newer AM3+ so work on the motherboard.

2) I don't forsee any major price swing one way or another. Prices go up and down with release of new technology. Prices today will be similar to price down the road.

3) There is nothing to worry about Intel and ATI GPU's working together. They work together very nicely!!
