Hello,

can anyone tell me why the 8 pin 12v EPS connector on this board is is only showing 4 pins? The other 4 are
blocked by a small black clip. Does this board require all 8 pins to be used or is 4 pins the standard? I am using am AMD Phenom II X6 CPU & dual Radeon HD 6870's. PSU is an HX1000 by Corsair.

TIA

The other 4 pins are blocked so that owners of a PSU with only a 4 pin EPS connector will connect to the correct 4 pins of the 8 pin connector on the motherboard.
Actually, if you were to plug only 4 pins from your HX1000 PSU's 8-pin EPS rail into the motherboard it would still work - but don't - use all 8.

Just remove the plastic cover from those for pins. Then use the 8 pin cable from your HX1000 to power all 8 pins. They put those extra pins there for a reason (better power regulation under heavy loads & OC'ing) use 'em if you can........
