My friends Dell computer had the motherboard go bad. I have an old computer that had a hard drive crash. I took the HD out of the Dell and put it in the Gateway. I selected the proper drive in the screens, there were no jumpers to short anything on the drive. There is only one drive in the unit. The BLUE screen keeps popping up saying the HD is not set up.

Hi Jerhan, & Welcome to Tom's Hardware!

The Dell HDD will have all the Dell drivers on it for the old MD and hardware, but not your Gateway hardware drivers that you need for your Gateway motherboard and hardware.

Do you by chance have the restore CD's for your Gateway?. Many laptops now have a Restore Partition hidden on the hard drive to restore their computer in the event of a crash, but with your hard drive crash, that's not available to use.

Also when you get the BSOD, copy down the event code, like Ox000000F4, and any information it might mention about drivers or possible cause. Sometimes you can tell where the problem lies from that information.
