APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: This week or next

BUDGET RANGE: Under $1000, hopefully around 800.

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming, surfing the internet.

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Could re-use my old monitor but its resolution in 1024x768?

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Newegg but doesn't really matter

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: USA

PARTS PREFERENCES: None really. maybe nvidia for physx, but i dont know if that does much

OVERCLOCKING: probably not, i dont know how. Is this overclocking difficult? I've never tried but im pretty good at figuring stuff out.

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: No for now, would like to leave room to add it in the future for an upgrade.

MONITOR RESOLUTION: doesnt matter

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Quiet and cool would be nice since i live in so cal and its a million degrees out. I want to get this pc for starcraft 2 and diablo 3 mainly and would like to run sc2 at its highest settings. I'll probably get other games like crysis as well but dont expect to max it out. I will also be using it to surf the internet.

Thanks for the help and damn that was fast. The links are fixed now. Those seem like good suggestions to me, but I believe if i change to amd I also need to change mobos. not a problem i guess though, just feel dumb for choosing a notebook hd when it is clearly labeled :pfff:  .

That monitor does indeed look fantastic and maybe it could fit into my budget with a liitle more adjustments. although i would like a monitor with very minimal response time (2ms). i also play super street fighter 4 with friends and milliseconds of lag make a huge difference for this game.

I use the HDMI input for my PS3 and I play Super Street Fighter 4 with this monitor and I haven't noticed any problems at all just FYI

Ok so i changed the mobo and cpu to this combo and added this monitor and cable combo, which brings the total to $1,189. any other suggestions (especially price related since im now $200 over budget)?

Edit: Just realized I dont have a copy of windows 7 in there. Add another $100. Total price $1,289.

wow that rig looks great batuchka. I took what you gave me and modified it a little. hows this?

Phenom II X4 955 3.2ghz with msi 790gx-g5 mobo (same combo as batuchka)

NZXT m79 case with CORSAIR XMS3 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) (same combo as batuchka)

gtx 460 fermi 1gb with windows 7 home premium combo(wanted 1 gb version of this card after reading the review on toms hardware)

SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive with OCZ StealthXStream OCZ600SXS 600W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready Active PFC Power Supply combo

dvd burner

ASUS VH236H Black 23" 2ms(GTG) HDMI Widescreen Full HD 1080P LCD Monitor with hdmi cable combo (similar to luciddre4m's suggested monitor but with shorter response time/ same price)

mouse and keyboard

Total price for this setup is $1170, a little over budget but with a monitor i could do that. Also, should I get that arctic silver stuff? and do I need a cooling system? Thanks again for all the help!

Hmm for the CPU/Mobo bundle you top up to $240AR from $225AR and u may gain 8/8 CF but irrelevant if going GTX 460 (SLI GPU) IMO That and u lose SATA 6GB/s, USB 3.0 and SB 850
