I am running Windows 7 64bit and have been getting Blue screen random. I have built this about a week ago and had 3 blue screens since then. It happens randomly as it has happened as I was playing a game or just surfing the net. at first everything is fine then if in a game I noticed my FPS drop by half and then i close the game to see if it fixes the problem then after I see that my keyboard is a bit delayed and my mouse seems to be skipping and the whole computer just seems a bit sluggish. Then right before the Blue screen pops up my keyboard and mouse stop responding all together as if it froze and the blue screen comes 5seconds after and then the computer restarts. The computer seems to run fine after although it came back 3 days after again and am wondering how to fix this... I ran memtest86+ for 9 hours and it made 9 passes with no errors. Also ran Spinrite v6 and that came back with no errors although the 1st 5 boxs were just dots... Anything else I should try or be aware of?

Here is what I got from the crash report upon loading windows the last time it happened...

Blue screens are very serious and most of the time, they're hardware-based (such as a bad overclock). You could try a series of some other things too which may eventually "single out" the likely culprit of your problems. I've had tons of BSODs when I first built my gaming rig since I was so fiddly with the BIOS settings and other stuff that I shouldn't be touching.

Here's what I learnt that I hope will help you out:

1. Are you overclocking anything? This applies to not only the CPU and RAM, but also the graphics card. Put everything back on stock settings if you are and see if it's any better.

2. Update your drivers - this doesn't just apply to your graphics card, but also to your keyboard and mouse. You might also want to consider flashing your BIOS to the latest version. Go here: http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=6i86Hj0lGriFHfY9&templete=2 and select the "downloads" tab.

3. Try using a different graphics card if you can. The 7800GTX if I remember correctly, is quite an old card (5 years or so?) and there are newer cards such as the ATI Radeon 5770 that are awesome in terms of value and performance.

I hope this helps!
