Antec 200 cooler size???

New here, but would like to know what cooler would fit on an upcoming i7 build with a asus p6x58d-e and a antec 200 case which I already have. was thinking about a scythe mugen 2 or a coollermaster v6 gt

More about antec cooler size
  1. The case itself is 200mm wide. The Scythe Mugen 2 is 130mm tall and the Coolermaster V6 GT is 165mm tall. Out of the two I'd go for the Scythe Mugen 2 just to be on the safe side since you also have to factor in your motherboard stand-offs and other factors that would reduce the available room. It may be worth waiting to see if anyone has any direct experience with these coolers in that particular case though.
  2. what about a corsair a50 or a70?
  3. As far as I can tell from the website, both the a50 and a70 are about 160mm tall, so again you're getting fairly close here.

get a CM 212+, its cheaper and better cooler then either of those. will easily fit in your case

  5. just did some measuring and the case is 200mm (20cm) wide so how tall must the cooler be to sit in the case comfortably?
  6. The case is 7.9 inches wide. Normally I recommend a case that is at least 8 inches and preferably 8.5 inches wide for those tall, 120mm, tower style cpu heatsinks.

kinda bought the case recently so... -.-
but I am looking at the scythe mugen 2 which according to moody89 is 130mm tall but other places say it is 158mm. If it is 158mm will it able to fit in my case??
  8. anyone?
  9. The Mugen is 158mm tall same as the 212+.
They are both excellent coolers the Mugen will be quieter then the 212+ and is actually a bit better cooling wise.
However it's alot bigger then the 212+ and can be a pita to install since it's wide.
130mm wide as opposed to the 212+ which is 120mm wide.
This can cause problems with dimm interference and depending on the height of your ram can be a problem.
For $10 cheaper the 212+ will be an easier install and less likely to have clearance issues.

  10. the CM 212+ is $25 cheaper at microcenter then the link above for the scythe
