Undetected External devices

My EX HDD and DVD ROM can not be detected on my computer, as well as on other computers and in boot to. and not even in device management and TestDisk software, cable is ok because the power is running but no data and undetected I do not want to lose the memory in external hardisk, or how I can get back pictures and data in the ex hdd. Please, I appreciate any answer.

How are your external HDD and DVD ROM devices connected to the computer? Do they connect via USB ports? If yes, have you tried any other USB devices, such as a flash drive, on thoese ports? Have you tried connecting with a different cable?
