Hello,

My My BFG Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTX 768mb factory OC died the other day. I am looking for a new card to tie me over on my current system for 6-12 months until I fully upgrade to a brand new system (new mobo, CPU, RAM, and everything).

Right now I am looking at the GIGABYTE GV-R557OC-1GI Radeon HD 5570 1GB and PNY VCGGTS2501XPB GeForce GTS 250 1GB 256-bit on New Egg.

Nvidia: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Both cards are on sale and within my price range. I am wondering which is the better value and which will be better for gaming until I upgrade to a more expensive system down the road. I need a card that can play Bad Company 2, Star Craft 2, Crysis, etc, decently to well.

My BFG Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTX 768mb factory OC was able to run Crysis pretty well on medium/high graphics at around 30fps, and Bad Company 2 at around 30-60 FPS on medium/high settings depending on what was happening.

The rest of my system specs are:

Mainboard : Abit AB9/AB9RPO(Intel965+ICH8)

Chipset : Intel P965

Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 @ 2666 MHz

Physical Memory : 3072 MB

Monitor Type : Samsung SyncMaster - 19 inches

Operating System : Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.01.2600 Service Pack 3

DirectX : Version 9.0c (April 2009)

I totally appreciate the help, and not to sound desperate, but any quick replies would be great, as these New Egg deals may not last for more than a day. Also, if you have any other card recommendations than the ones I posted and am looking at, I'd be glad to hear them. Thanks!

Well, funnily enough, they were about the same price when I checked yesterday. They took off another 25$ + 6$ in shipping from the ATI today apparently. The ATI was recommended by a friend so I looked for cards of comparable pricing and within 0-140ish$. And thanks for the quick reply!

Why are you looking at those two? The 5570 isnt even in the same price range as the GTS 250. Of course the GTS 250 is a better pick, it will blow the 5570 away, it will also be slightly quicker than your 8800GTX was but only slightly as the GTS 250 is the 9800GTX+.

+1 for ATI 5770

With a 19" monitor, I doubt you're any higher than 1680x1050 resolution anyhow (if not less).
