First computer, so comments and opinions would be appreciated! also i want this to be a gaming computer, from what I've searched i might go with this.

Motherboard:
MSI NF980-G65 AM3 NVIDIA nForce 980a SLI HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

CPU:
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz 4
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

RAM:
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

GPU:
EVGA 01G-P3-1373-TR GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) Superclocked EE 1GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

That's what i basically got so far, will this be an average gaming computer? what do you guy's think?
Also i could use some recommendations on Computer cases and the power supply i would be needing, I'm currently using a 550W one in this computer so if that's enough i could just switch it to the new one with out having to buy a new power supply but if i need a stronger Power supply i would rather buy a new one.
Thanks!

Cpu- 955 add x1 multiplier = same speed as 965

Ram-tighter timings=faster ram

Case

A 550w unit will handle your rig fine if you really want to update this is a good deal.

Toms did an 890FX shoot out so if u looking to splash big on an AM3 features rich have a look at the 890FX chipset and if multi GPU is a must than HD 5850? Else 870 + GTX 460
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-890fx-crosshair...

In summary i would do

955BE + Biostar TA890FXE + HD 5850 or

955BE + MSI 870A-G54 + GTX 460

Thanks for the help! i was lookign at this CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition Thuban 3.2GHz 6 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... ) would you guy's recommend me investing about $100 more?

The 1090T will perform on par or worse than the 965 in most games. If you run other apps which utilize more cores (media editing, encoding, etc), then the 1090 will be a worthwhile $100 upgrade. Purely from a gaming perspective, no.

Ok so from you guy's suggestions i'll go with this:

Motherboard:
MSI 870A-G54 AM3 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... ) since it has usb3 and sata6g, but no SLI, would you guy's recommend SLI for the future?

CPU:
AMD Phenom II X4 955 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... ) since the 965 needs more power and like davcon mentioned x1 will give me the same results for less money.

GPU:
EVGA 01G-P3-1373-TR GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) Superclocked EE 1GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

RAM:
G.SKILL ECO Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... )

Case:
COOLER MASTER HAF 922 RC-922M-KKN1-GP Black Steel
( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...)

Power supply:
I think my 550W one will be enough?

you guy's approve? comments and suggestions appreciated! :D
