Compatibility issue with an older program and AM3 CPU

My girlfriend's PC bit the dust so I got her a shiny new Phenom II X2 555 and an MSI 770T-C45 motherboard and everything is MUCH faster and better EXCEPT, a program she needs for her graphic design work no longer runs. I've verified it IS a compatibility issue with the CPU. The new PC is running W7 Pro x64, my PC is running W7 Ult x64 and I have a PII X4 955 and it does exactly the same thing as her PC. I have Gateway FX laptop with an Intel T9300 and W7 Ult x64 and it works fine there. Apparently someone on the app forum (now dead except for Viagra spam) came to the conclusion it is something internal to an AM3 CPU. I agree with this since her old PC had an X2 4400 and ran the app fine. She has a 770 and DDR2, I have 790 and DDR3.. pretty sure it's the CPU.

Anyway, it seems the app author/developer/tech support has either died or wants nothing to do with it anymore. So, short of rebuilding her PC again with Intel, is there maybe some workaround or maybe some registry setting or something that could trick the app into thinking it's running on an older CPU?

I've tried:
Setting compatibility mode on the program
Turning off Virtualization (or whatever AMD calls it) in the BIOS
Banging my head against the wall...

The app is Texture Maker 3.1 and here is the event from the event viewer:

More about compatibility issue older program
  1. Interesting. Is this a free program? I may test this out myself. One way to be sure is to pop the old k8 x2 into the 770 board.... Odd.
  2. It's still out there at and it has a free trial, she has the paid license, but I tried the free version on my PC. You can download it and try it...
