Hard Disks - Problems Accessing Files

I have a new computer but I need to access information from the hard disk on the old computer. I don't have techy expertise nor do I have much money to buy adapters etc. How do I get the information onto a thumb drive or CD please?

This is probably the cheapest way to get data off the drive,

You would hook up your old hard drive to that device, and connect the usb port on it to your new computer. If you have a new desktop with an open sata port you could also hook the drive up that way, but it is a good bit more complicated to do.
