Hi all,

I am new to building computers, but from researching around the internet I think I want the gtx 460 1gb and the phenom x4 955.

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Tonight or Tomorrow

BUDGET RANGE: $800) Before Rebates

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming (Starcraft 2, FFXIV, Star Wars TOR)

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, OS

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: Any trusted site in the U.S. Newegg is the one I have been gauging off of.

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: U.S

OVERCLOCKING: Yes / No / Maybe I never overclocked before, but i heard the 955 is easy to do so.

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Yes / No / Maybe I am not going for sli now, but would like to have the possibility of adding another gtx 460 down the line.

MONITOR RESOLUTION: Using a 1080p samsung hdtv. Can also be used in a 720p resolution. I need hdmi on the g-card which i think the 460 has.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Here are some parts that i found that might be good deals, but i am not sure with compatibility issues and if something else would be more worth the money:

DVD Burner

(does that motherboard allow for sli?)

Thanks for the help, much appreciated. I have no clue about compatibility so I appreciate the guidance!

For an AMD build, to get SLI you have to go for a motherboard with a Nvidia chipset. These are all the ones I could find which are AM3: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=Property&Subcategory=22&Description=&Type=&N=100007625+600007943&IsNodeId=1&srchInDesc=&MinPrice=&MaxPrice=&PropertyCodeValue=709%3A46178&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A37364&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A36150&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A29272&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A47405&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A30291&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A37156&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A26653&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A7519&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A7530&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A10661&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A7520&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A30949&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A7522&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A7523&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A10628&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A18309&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A11281&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A11283&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A18920&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A11282&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A26652&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A18124&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A21479&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A18489&PropertyCodeValue=719%3A27099 Maybe there would be more if I included AM2+. The one's around $100 would probably be my choice if I was going to do what you're planning.

HDD: Either of the following: ~$50/$75

I suppose if you can find a good combo deal with a Caviar Blue or Caviar Black then they would be worth going for.

CASE & PSU: Lian Li PC-K62 & XFX 650W $150
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.440193
The PSU will be able to support adding another GTX 460.

Nice set of RAM: G.SKILL ECO Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 F3-12800CL7D-4GBECO (7-8-7-24 1.35V)

Make sure you get the Mbox version as it is the newest revision, so is generally better than the old one.
