Don't struggle with a faulty pen drive, they are too cheap for the hassle to be worthwhile. Just sling it and buy a new one, preferably a good brand like Kingston etc. It's important to remember that pen drives aren't reliable enough for long term storage or as backup drives. They are designed for short-term storage such as transferring files from one PC to another.
