I'm looking at purchasing a computer and have narrowed it down to two computers, but I'm kind of confused by the processors and what the mean. The first processor is a AMD Dual Core Athlon™ Neo X2 6850e (1MB L2, 1.8GHz). The memory is as follows: 4GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz- 2 DIMM. The other is Intel® Core™ i3-540 processor(4MB Cache, 3.06GHz) with a memory of 4GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz- 4 DIMMs. I think I'm comparing oranges to apples but I wasn't sure. Also the first one is smaller and more practical with more Hard Drive space, but I think the other one is better processor but wasn't sure. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you need processing power, the i3 is what you need. But if you don't, the neo MAY (I say may because you didn't link us to the computers) provide better battery life and a better graphics chip.
If they are the same price, than the i3 is underpriced or the neo is overpriced, more than likely since you didn't tell us much about the systems.
