Hey guys first time on th ... anyways I was planning on building a computer within a couple years but my laptop just stopped working and i guess its because of a hardrive failure.. but I am wanting to do this asap because I was in the Starcraft 2 beta and now that the game is 5 days from launch my freaking computer dies! i've been waiting for this game forever ... I don't really have any knowledge on building computers or on any hardware specifics at all. I was basically wondering if it is viable for a person like me to build a computer very quick and hopefully not blow anything up in the process

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: asap

BUDGET RANGE: 600-700 for tower and best deal on monitor

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: STARCraft 2, college

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: need everything even monitor /sigh

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: new egg? idk whatever is the best

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: US

PARTS PREFERENCES:none

OVERCLOCKING: if applicable

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: if applicable

MONITOR RESOLUTION: highest res possible

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: If you guys could help me out that would be much appreciated.. although i think you will be hearing a lot from me because i have no idea how to build a comp.

Thank you for your time guys

Well, if you're willing to spend a bit more time custom building, then I'd definitely recommend it. Here are some guides on the building process:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/build-your-own-pc,2601.html
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/274745-31-step-step-guide-building

You need to commit yourself if you're not sure. A pre-built will be more expensive and will almost definitely skimp on some components but it's much easier.
