My passport usb device not recognized

Hello,
I have just bought a My passport 1tb drive. I have no problem locating the drive on any computer (MAC or windows). But the thing is, when I try attaching it to a TV, sound system or any other which should be able to read external drives, it just won´t play.
The thing spins and the little light shines, but nothing...
Shouldn´t this work or do I do something wrong?

Many (most?) TVs and DVD players expect to see a FAT32 file system. If your drive drive is formatted with NTFS or HFS, then the TV might not see it.
