Help! New computer starting to become a real pain...

I just built my new computer about 4 months ago primarily for gaming. over the last couple of months I have been having issues with almost EVERY game I play and I am starting to get Really really irritated. for example Crysis would flat crash in the middle of the game, FarCry 2 just goes to a blank screen and wont even load up to the main menu, The original Call of Duty gives me an error that says "Buffer Overrun" when I try to play it, Half-Life 2 only gets passed the valve guy and goes to the blurry one but then just goes to a blank screen with looping sounds and task manager says "Not Responding." The only games that have given me NO problems are F.E.A.R. and F.E.A.R 2... PLZ HELP! I built this computer so that I would be able to play games... :(
