Adobe compatible with windows 7 and yahoo emails

I have just purchased a new computer with Windows 7 and I also downloaded Adobe Reader 9 to my computer. I have emails that come to me through my yahoo acct. that when I down load are in adobe software. When it opens up it opens in Microsoft Word and shows up encoded and unable to read. I use my friends computer set up with same system and it opens fine with no problem. Can someone please help me fix this issue. I need to get the emails for my college courses.

Try saving the attachment to HDD first, then opening saved file.

save to comp. right click -> open with -> choose default program...

find adobe reader, set to always use.
