This is my first time building so pardon me if I missed out anything important. I tried to read all those guides but I ended up frying my brain. This place has too much information for me to handle. The $300 is there if I absolutely have to buy extra parts. The folks here will freak out if I exceed $900

EDIT: I forgot to compute it, but I think I already exceeded my budget. I could use some help to tone it down.

Get a cheaper Mobo and CPU, and put the money into a GPU. (your CPU and mobo are actually incompatible with each other, so thats not going to work anyway)

id suggest going for an athlon II 635/Phenom II 720 and a 5850. as well as an appropriate gigabyte mobo.

the ram kit is a tri-channel kit, made for lga 1366. you want to get 4Gbs of ddr3.

the case is also on the expensive side. if you need to trim off some cash, an antec 300 would certainly help do that.

the Nvidia one is a little less powerful. but also cheaper. still a much better choice than a GTS 250.

then a case of your choice, the same PSU as you selected. pretty good system.

if you have enough cash left over, you could bump the CPU up to a Phenom II 965. see what you can do with that.

Ok I found another way to increase my budget. I can ditch the monitor since I'm asking one of my relatives to lend me his unused monitor. It's a small monitor (17") but definitely hold off until I can buy a new one. I still want the posted monitor though so I still need a corresponding GPU.

I can use the $300 provided I don't use it the same time I purchase the $900 set.

So... do I start all over and make a new thread or can I still use this one.?

CPU and Mobo: i5 760 & ASUS P7P55D-E Pro LGA 1156

Monitor: ASUS VH198T Black 19" 5ms LED Backlight LCD Monitor

HD & PSU: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS 1TB 7200 RPM & CORSAIR CMPSU-550VX 550W

DVD BURNER: LITE-ON Black

Memory: G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB)

Case: Antec Three Hundred Illusion Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer

OS & GPU: MSI N460GTX-M2D768D5 GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi)

Some of the combos may cost higher than buying individual unit so I'll definitely drop it if there's a cheaper one.
