Most current AM3 use DDR3 DIMM and I cannot think of any 2~3-WAY CF AM3 using DDR2. The OCZ, especially Gold, is not 'good' RAM and is known for its' problems.

Here's a couple 2-WAY CF and a 3-WAY CF http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare.aspx?Submi...|13-157-198^13-157-198-TS%2C13-157-208^13-157-208-TS%2C13-131-644^13-131-644-TS

AM3 CPU's have both DDR2 and DDR3 memory controller. AM3 only motherboards only have memory slots for DDR3 ram and are not backwards compatible with AM2 or AM2+ CPU's. There are boards like these that support AM3/AM2+/AM2 CPU's and accept DDR2 ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=E...

'AM3' is a socket and the few AM2+/AM3 do support DDR2, the purpose of a pure AM3 was to go to DDR3...

there are some AM3 motherboards that say
DDR2 1066/800/667

but does that support my rams? ... i found some am3 motherboards saying DDR2 1066/800/667 but i am not sure if that means i can use my rams.

my current am 2 processor is ruined and i wanted to not loose my ram and i just bought a new cpu am II6 PHENOM and unfortunetly right now it broke.. not the new cpu but mb

so i need a motherboard that can use the ddr2s and still use am 3

Yep, I overlooked the section on the bottom {AM3/AM2+/AM2} - http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=E...

Many Open Boxes are missing SATA cables and often the I/O Shields, so prior to purchasing verify that you can 'get' an I/O Shield - generally $5~$10 IF available.

An I/O Shield is the sheet metal with holes punched though and covers back of case where the MOBO's connections protrude eg USB, Sound, etc.

Hopefully it is not missing from the open box.

i now called the shop and got the opportunity to send it to repairs

because as of late the motherboard oNBOARD lan and cpu fan started to stop working period. this started after i installed msi afterburner but as long as i remember i did not overlock because i couldnt since my second gpu suddenly stopped being shown in windows and in general in device manager. that is how the problem started
first the second gpu was not recognized and the onboard lan was turned off for soem reason.

and yes i know both gpus work since the work individually

there is not a reason to 100% believe it was because of hte psu .. the psu seemed to work correctly.. i even connected the old psu and still same problem

earlier people had told me 750w psu is enough for having 2 gpu running..
i only have my gpus and hardrive and the original hardware connected to power..

BUT now when i read the manual it says "use 1000 w and above if you use two gpus for stability"

i listened to you guys! .. do you think the motherboard broke because of the psu?
is it really nessecary to use 1000 w for my motehar board with two gpus?

this is my mother board :
Asus M3A79-T Deluxe, AMD 790FX+SB750

this is a pain in the back because i really cant return the psu anymore

what could have caused my motherboard to become like this? cold air? it was a bit cold for a while here...
could it be that i had not fastened the motherboard properly ?

i had m motherboard fastened to my case but there were no washers .. were there supposed to follow washers with my motherboard? and if so can you show me how exactly?

only thin gi can think of is that the motherboard was in a cold room or that it was not properly fastened that wheni tried to install the second gpu i might have strained the board.
its very strange it worked very well suddenly not.. one thing is sure i will not use msi afterburner anymore .. i didnt really even use it

can you gusy also tell me if its safe to take off the cpu now tha ti must send it to repairs? or will the cpu be permanently useless?

if i dont have the original screws and washers the stock ones that come with my moetherboard... and i dont have an idea what to look for ..c an you guys tell me exactly what i need to properly fasten my moetherboard to my chasis?

are you sure? it still says

this is the first one you sugested
Slots 2 x PCIe 2.0 x16 , support ATI CrossFireX™ technology (at one x16 or dual x8 link)
2 x PCIe x1
2 x PCI 2.2

this is the second one you sugested
2 x PCIe 2.0 x16 support ATI CrossFireX™ technology(@dual x16 speed)
1 x PCIe 2.0 x4
1 x PCIe 2.0 x1
2 x PCI

isnt the first one better in this case?

i am abit confused also it says pci 2.2 express

The second one has a 890FX chipset which is the top of the line AM3 dual cards at X16!
The first one has 890GX which has reduced features + integrated GPU, dual cards at X8!

second one is too expensive.. is the first one bad? to buy?
what do you mean btw? does my gpu cards even support 16x?
i have 6870s 2 of them crossfire

if i buy that card what type of ddr 3 ram should i buy ?

The 890GX board at dual card X8 is a great board! I was simply replaying to this; "cant you find a 16x for me with 2 16x?"
The performance difference between 2 cards at X16 or X8 is minimal (max about 2% ) and can easily be neglected. Your cards support X16. I personally would by DDR3 1600MHz but 1333MHz would be fine.

what in the world are the 1866mhz .. what are the differences?

so are you saying any of those cards would be great? they only got 2% in difference between them?

What I am saying is that the difference between Crossfire with those cards on X8 X8 vs X16 X16 is max 2%

so what should i do ? what should i buy

and what about hte ram questions i just had?

i have some ddr2 rams from my wasted mother board.. should i buy a am3 ddr 2 mb (can you find for me good ones that support ddr2 and am3 ? and 2 crossfire)

or should i just buy new ram and new motherboard .. like those you have been talking about

If you are buying new motherboard the AM3+ socket (will accept Bulldozer CPU's when released) just came out, buy that with a decent DDR3 ram. Just make sure the board has crossfire support. That is what I would do.

Yes it is SDram DDR3 that you want. Patriot is a good brand. That Gigabyte board is AM3+ and will support bulldozer it will crossfire as well.
This is a good ram since it has faster timings than std CL8 http://www.ps.no/ArtDtl.aspx?i=179933&model=&salg=
A quality 750watt PSU should handle your setup fine.
You should be able to post new topics without marking this thread old!

Triple channel kits are for Intel's LGA1366 setups. You can use other ram I just selected a dual channel (best for AMD system) kit with 2 x 2GB.

Triple channel or 3 sticks will run in single channel! If you want 8GB select a 2 x 4GB kit anything more will be an overkill for gaming.
