External hard drive not showing up in my computer windows vista

Hello,
I have an Intenso 640GB external hard drive, it is 6 months old and was working yesterday. it is not being recognised today. I need the data on it, is there any way of re-installing the driver or finding the drive again on my computer? I am running windows vista.

when in doubt, Reboot...

Open Disk Management and see if Windows sees the external HD. Right click the Compuer icon (desktop or start menu) and choose Manage. Undr Storage select Disk Management. Somtimes Windows tries to assign a drive letter that is alredy in use.
