hi all,
i've just reformatted the hard drive on my laptop (dell inspiron 5000) &
have come across the same problem i had last time i reformatted, the refresh
rate is stuck at 60hz.
i remember last time i did a google search & found a post detailing a work
around for this problem, (post seems to have been removed) i think i had to
change the monitor type to laptop display panel, for some reason i don't
have that option in the standard monitor types this time, only digital flat
panel.
i've installed the latest video drivers & it does allow me to change the
refresh rate but this has no effect, it's still stuck at 60hz (even if it
says 85hz).

dell support groups offer no help, they insist the refresh rate doesn't
matter but from experience, i know it does!

please help my eyes cant take this much longer.

thanks in advance
Andy

hi... all LCD screens refresh at 60hz!

surely the refresh rate is not the problem.

Not true, several Inspiron's have 85Hz refresh rates (My old 7500 for
instance), as well as other brands I can't name at the moment.

But the advantage of this is not less flicker as with a CRT, but rather the
response time.

Kristian

Refresh rate has nothing to do with response time. Also, all digital lcd's
run at 60hz refresh rate.
