Deciding on a new computer. Help.

iv been planning to get a better computer then the old one i got atm. itll be mainly used for games and kinda wanna keep it low budget ($1200ish) heres wat iv planned so far. any advice would be sweet. cheers. it is my first time trying to make a comp. so be nice. If u are looking at an 890FX then logically CF @ 16/16 is on the cards but that Vantec PSU blows alternatively why not 955BE + HD 5870 in single GPU config?

I would recommend you drop your CPU and go with a Phenom II x4 955. The 6 core processor will offer no benefit to gaming so it is essentially money spent for nothing.

I would suggest you get 4gb of RAM as 2gb nowadays is on the low side. I would recommend G Skill Eco 1600mhz CL7

You want at least 750W PSU assuming you plan on one day Crossfiring with 2 graphics cards, if you don't plan on Crossfiring you can get a cheaper motherboard

so u reckon keep everything the same but upgrade to the 5870 and downgrade to the 4 core CPU?
and a much better PSU?

Ya a better GPU/955BE = instant gains in frames in your games and a beefy 80+ bronze 650Watter is a mainstay i would say for many an upgrade cycle for a single GPU set up and a sound investment ^^

This sound alright or still anything you'd change?

Antec Neo ECO is fine but i would rate the XFX 650 a better PSU As said if running a HD 5870 with no intention to crossfire hit an 870 chipset else bump to a 750W 80+ for CF

got that now. so if i wanted to crossfire in the future would i need to upgrade the CPU or motherboard? or will that all handle it?

Just a 750W 80+ PSU would do ^^ The Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5 is already a fine 16/16 board
