Hi everyone, I'm going for my first build here and I'd love any input/advice the community may have on it. I appreciate it very much. Okay, here we go...

APPROXIMATE PRUCHASE DATE: I plan to start buying parts this week and hope to finish buying everything within the next 2-3 weeks.

BUDGET RANGE: under $1500 USD

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT:
Gaming > Web App Development > surfing > streaming media (music/movies)

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, OS

PREFERRED WEBSITE FOR PARTS: newegg.com, amazon.com, anywhere else?

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: USA

PARTS PREFERENCES: Intel CPU, ATI GPU & Corsair PSU

OVERCLOCKING: no plans, maybe in the future...maybe

CROSSFIRE: Yes! In the future.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I'm concerned about:
- the PSU (do I need more watts for crossfire in the future?
- starting with 4GB of RAM, I will upgrade later this year; problem?
- what tweaks should I make or is it a good enough rig?

Solution
HAF 922 is already big as most full towers, 932 isn't needed.

Factory OC GPu's are a waste of money. XFX is selling stock for $290, GA a mild OC one for $300 w/ $20 MIR
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125318&cm_re=5850-_-14-125-318-_-Product

RAM
4gb eco kit is fine. $105 and should hit same timings once you up v to 1.5v.

Buy the Hyper 212 plus off amazon for $30

Swap HD to Spinpoint F3 1tb. Better performance.

PSU is fine for xfire.

4gb of RAM is also fine.
32 software is limited to 2gb of RAM unless it has a large address aware even then, 3gb for 32 bit OS, 4gb for 64 bit OS.

Won't change until...

Won't change until everyone migrates to 32 bit software. Currently, only graphics and video professionals software is 64 bit.

Have you looked at the HAF 922? It is only slightly smaller than the 932 and should be a decent saving.

For a system with an OCed CPU and two 5850s and good 650W PSU would be perfectly fine. It's only if you wanted to OC the GPUs as well that I'd suggest going up to a 750W PSU.

This RAM is much cheaper: G.SKILL ECO Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 F3-12800CL7D-4GBECO (7-8-7-24) 1.35V And has much lower voltage and it's timings are only slightly worse than the set you linked, but with the low voltage it would easy to get the same numbers out of this set.

The Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus isn't worth ~$50 imo. The Scythe Mugen 2 $35 ($7.50 shipping) is a better choice for a heatsink considering that it can get better temps, lower noise, and is cheaper. The downside is that it can be more difficult to install and probably a good idea to buy RAM without heatspreaders if you decided on it. Or do as Banthracis said.

Yes onboard sound will be perfectly adequate for headphone and speaker use.

Just a quick update, I went with the:

- G.SKILL ECO Series 4GB DDR3 1600 RAM
- Cooler Master HAF 922
- 750W PSU
- Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus (on Amazon)
- Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB
- XFX ATI 5850 GPU

Then I stuck with the rest of the build.

Thanks for the help!
