External hard drive

Hello,
i dropped my Maxtor pn-9nz2a4-500 external hard drive while it was on and now it wont start up. when i plug the ac in it repeats the start up noise but fails to start up the light comes on when i connect it to my laptop but doesnt show on the laptop. i dont really care about the data but is there a way to get it working again.

Hello, & Welcome to Tom' s Hardware!

In all probability, as the drive was on and running, dropping it has caused a disk spindle fatal accident or head/disk internal defect. Those are problems inside the HDD case assembly. If the data weren't important, your best bet is to get a new replacement, and chalk it up to "education".
